To date, there are not so many manufacturers left in the model range of which there are full-fledged frame SUVs, and if it comes to frame SUVs of the compact class, then their representatives can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
One of these models is the compact crossover Rush, produced by Toyota since the beginning of 2006. In fact, the car is a slightly improved version of the Daihatsu Terios, offered in the European, as well as the Middle East and South American markets.
In mid-2016, it became known about the release of the updated Toyota Rush, the design of which has much in common with the Daihatsu FT Concept presented in 2015. In comparison with its predecessor, the model received a corrected appearance and a modernized interior, but the technical component, according to preliminary information, will remain unchanged. Nevertheless, the manufacturer emphasizes that the new Toyota Rush is distinguished by higher efficiency and improved dynamics, which guarantees the car confident acceleration both on the track and off-track.
According to preliminary information, residents of Malaysia and Indonesia will be the first to try out the new product, after which the car will go to conquer other markets, among which, unfortunately, Russia is not yet listed.

The exterior of the new Toyota Rush leaves an extremely positive impression, despite the fact that the design of the car is made in isolation from the style of the latest models of the company.
The front part of the crossover vaguely resembles the second generation Toyota RAV4 and, in comparison with its predecessor, received a new, more modern, head optics, a new form of a false radiator grille and a massive front bumper, in which large round fog lights are mounted.
The profile of the car has practically not changed - in place there are large wheel arches, impressive side doors and mugs of side mirrors. From the new - a new design of alloy wheels and a more stylish plastic body kit.
The crossover stern is distinguished by new LED tapping lights, a neat rear bumper and a large tailgate with a large rear window for excellent rear visibility.

The interior design of the car is designed in a simple laconic style. In comparison with its predecessor, the manufacturer has significantly improved the quality of the materials used, and this applies not only to the dashboard, but also to the seat upholstery. From now on, the driver has a new dashboard and a new steering wheel with the ability to control the car's audio system. The central dashboard received new air duct deflectors, a new microclimate control unit, represented by two large "washers", and a new multimedia system with a large touch screen.
The front seats have got new head restraints and provide a fairly comfortable fit, but there is not enough lateral support. The high seating position and a wide range of seat adjustments allow not only a person of any size to sit comfortably, but also provide excellent visibility. Between the seats of the front passengers there is a wide armrest, inside of which there are several niches for various luggage.
The second row seats are profiled for two riders, nevertheless, the third passenger can easily fit here, however, he will be inconvenienced by a high transmission tunnel. The third row of seats, available in a seven-seater version of the model, is designed only for adolescents and children, which is due not only to the lack of free space in width and length, but also to the height.
The volume of the trunk varies between 380-755 liters, depending on the location of the second / third row of seats, and in its underground there was a place for a spare wheel and a set of tools.
In general, the simple, but well-tailored interior is distinguished by well-thought-out ergonomics, and the materials used, although far from premium, are highly durable. Some questions are caused by sound insulation, which copes well with external noise during a quiet ride and frankly fails when driving at high speeds.

Unlike the Daihatsu Terios, the updated Toyota Rush is offered exclusively in a rear-wheel drive configuration (at least for the first time), which qualitatively affects the off-road capabilities of the crossover. As a power unit, an uncontested 1.5-liter 3SZ-FE petrol engine, developed by Daihatsu engineers, is installed on the car.
Such a motor develops 109 "mares" and 141 Nm of rotational thrust, and can be paired with a 5-level manual or 4-band automatic transmission. In the first case, it will take a little more than 13 seconds for the car to accelerate from 0 to 100, and in the second - 15.3 seconds, while the maximum speed in both the first and second cases is about 154 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle does not exceed 7.8 l / 100 km, which may not be impressive, but looks very worthy against the background of most of the "classmates".
The characteristics of the Toyota Rush design suggest the presence of an independent spring suspension, which is represented by the classic MacPherson struts in the front, and a multi-link with stabilizers on the rear axle. The steering is represented by an electric booster, and the front disc and rear drum brakes are responsible for braking the crossover, the assistants of which include the stabilization system, ABS and others.
The Rush's off-road capabilities are limited to a mono-drive drivetrain, but even with this configuration, the car can confidently overcome railroad tracks, speed bumps and curbs. The car does not give in when driving on country terrain.

The new Toyota Rush is a very pleasant car inside and out, with a well-designed, ergonomic and spacious interior, sufficient equipment and an economical engine that provides a confident ride both in the city and beyond. The car is equally well suited for male and female audiences and will not annoy with frequent breakdowns, since it is based on proven and well-proven components and assemblies.
Of course, the little car has serious competitors in the face of Kia Soul, Suzuki SX4 and Toyota Rush, but on its side there is a frame structure, low fuel consumption and high maintainability.
