Ford representatives have officially announced the premiere date for the new sixth generation of the Explorer 2019 crossover. The crossover will debut on January 9, 2019, at the famous Ford Field in Detroit. This event will take place exactly one week before the official start of the Detroit auto show. According to all the manufacturer's data, the start of sales of the new Explorer in the United States will start in the first half of 2019, although the model will be positioned as a 2020 car.

The basis for the new sixth generation Ford Explorer was the modular CD6 platform, according to some reports, the same suspension will be used for new Lincoln cars. As for the appearance of the novelty, his company presented a few months ago. In addition, spy photos of prototypes were presented on the network, which acquired smooth body lines, a vertical tailgate and a windshield with a slight slope. It is reliably known that the new Explorer will be presented in several trim levels. The new Ford Explorer has not been deprived and under the hood, according to preliminary data, there will be installed a turbocharged EcoBoost with 4 cylinders, 2.3-liter, 284 horsepower. There will also be a new 3.3-liter gasoline engine that will replace the current 3.5-liter aspirated V6 (294 hp). Although, as experts say, the power of the new engine will not be greater than the current one.

The list of crossover trim levels will also include a charged ST series, with a bi-turbo V6 engine, 3.0-liter capacity and 400 horsepower. It is such a unit that is now being installed on the new Lincoln Continental SUV. Despite the engine chosen, the manufacturer will install a 10-speed automatic transmission in tandem.

It is worth recalling that this summer the company unveiled a police version of the new Ford Explorer, with a hybrid setup under the hood. Presumably the official premiere will take place at the Detroit Auto Show. If we consider the current police Explorer in the United States, then the fastest is equipped with a 3.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and an all-wheel drive system. The average consumption of the hybrid novelty will be 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers. Sales of the new Ford Explorer will start in the first half of 2019. The preliminary starting price will be about $ 42,000.
