As part of the Shanghai Auto Show 2017, the Korean automobile company Hyundai demonstrated a new generation of Hyundai ix35 designed exclusively for the domestic market of China. The assembly of the novelty will be established at the Beijing Hyundai plant, located in the Shunyi area (not far from Beijing), where the model will be adjacent to the assembly shop of the previous generation ix35.
Before moving on to the crossover review, it is worth noting the importance of the Chinese market for the leadership of Hyundai. So, in 2016, more than 1.142 million cars with the Hyundai emblem on a false radiator grill were sold in China, which practically reaches 25% of the world sales of the South Korean auto giant. That is why the company's management has to make every effort to maintain its position in the Chinese market, which is largely facilitated by the release of special versions of models offered exclusively for Chinese car owners. The new Hyundai ix35 caused a real delight among the visitors of the Shanghai Motor Show 2017, which was facilitated by the unusual and extraordinary appearance of the car, which has little in common with the current off-road models of the brand.
The massive and brutal "muzzle" received a huge false radiator grille of a hexagonal shape, large optics of the main light, complemented by spectacular half-rings of LED running lights, as well as a powerful front bumper, which received a small air intake and large fog lights.
The crossover profile does not lag behind the front end of the body and looks no less powerful and aggressive. This is facilitated by the heavily inflated wheel arches, huge "rectangles" of the front and rear doors, massive C-pillars and a high window line.
The almost perfectly flat roof is complemented by stylish roof rails designed to improve the loading capacity of the machine.
The stern of the crossover is represented by large lampshades for side lights with LED filling, a large tailgate and a monumental bumper, most of which is a stylish off-road body kit.
The external dimensions of the car have the following parameters:
- Length - 4.435 m;
- Width - 1.85 m;
- Height - 1.67 m;
- Wheelbase length - 2.64 m.
As you can see, in comparison with its predecessor, the novelty has noticeably enlarged: 15 mm in length, 30 mm in width and 10 mm in height. The Hyundai ix35 rests on the road with large wheels with R18 alloy wheels.

Unfortunately, the Hyundai management decided not to reveal all the trump cards in one fell swoop and, with the help of closed doors and deep tinting, hid the interior design of the new ix35 from the eyes of visitors. Therefore, we can only assume how much the car interior will change in comparison with the previous generation, and whether it will change at all.
At the same time, it is known for sure that the quality of the materials used and the build quality will increase significantly, according to the parameters of which the manufacturer will come close to German competitors.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the debutant is based on a significantly improved predecessor bogie, which retained the front independent suspension with MacPherson struts, but received a multi-link rear suspension, which migrated here from the younger brother of the Hyundai ix25, known in Russia as the Hyundai Creta.
According to preliminary data, the line of power units will be represented by a 2-liter aspirated and a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine, generating 160 and 140 hp. respectively. A pair of engines will be a 7-level "robot" with a dual-clutch system and possibly a 6-band manual transmission.
As standard, the car will be equipped with front-axle drive, and as an option, buyers will be able to order a version with a drive on both axles.

It is currently unknown how many options and what configurations the new Hyundai ix35 will receive. Nevertheless, the manufacturer announced a small list of equipment that the novelty will definitely receive. Among them:

The estimated price of Hyundai ix35 2017-2018 will be 150 thousand yuan (about 22 thousand dollars), while initially the car will be presented exclusively in the domestic market of China, and later it may also enter the Indian market, which is the second priority for Hyundai.

The new Hyundai ix35 2017-2018 is a brutal, but at the same time stylish and technological crossover that promises to become a real bestseller in the domestic market of China, for which, in fact, the novelty was developed.
