  • Highest quality all-terrain vehicles

All-terrain vehicles are similar to crossovers, only with even higher cross-country ability. Snow, swamp, sand will not create any serious obstacles for them, a small river will not hinder them either. In addition, many representatives of this class can work in difficult weather conditions, which makes these vehicles widely applicable in the mining industry.

But for ordinary off-road lovers, they can be a good help. Next, we will talk about 10 all-terrain vehicles that can make their own track in 2020.

Highest quality all-terrain vehicles

1. Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport R

At the same Los Angeles Auto Show, Kia was adjacent to the Atlas Cross Sport R extreme all-terrain vehicle concept, designed by Volkswagen with the participation of VW driver Tanner Fust and Baja race veteran Rhys Millen. It turned out that this model was invented specifically for racing, and there is no talk of mass production of it yet.

Atlas Cross Sport R is equipped with a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine capable of developing 600 hp. with., but tuned to an indicator of about 480 liters. with. for an optimal balance of power and reliability.

This all-terrain vehicle is expected to participate in the Baja 2020 off-road race.

As the model is still being developed, Volkswagen is silent about the detailed characteristics of the car. But it is already clear that this will be the first Class 7 4WD car to compete in the Baja Rally.

Features of the model:

  • Number of wheels: 4;
  • wheel diameter: 24 inches.

2. ARGO Aurora 950 SX

When Prohibition was in effect in the United States, the moonshine there was secretly transported on the prototype of this all-terrain vehicle. But since then, the purpose of the ARGO equipment has changed somewhat.

The new AURORA 950 SX is an eight-wheel all-wheel drive amphibious all-terrain vehicle powered by an air-cooled 0.993 L four-stroke Briggs & Stratton V-shaped engine with a capacity of 0.993 liters and an output of 40 liters. The carrying capacity of the all-terrain vehicle is estimated at 433 kg on land and 365 kg on water.

The new Aurora is as fun and comfortable to drive as the UTV technology, but it has a tremendous superiority in cross-country ability.

Model characteristics:

  • Fuel consumption: 3 l / h;
  • wheel diameter: 25 inches;
  • number of seats: 4.

3. Polaris RZR XP TURBO

The two-seater all-terrain vehicle, designed by the Americans from Polaris, justifiably claims to be the leading position in its class. The redesigned RZR XP Turbo features redesigned suspension arms and an upgraded transmission, which the engineers claim has been bumped up three times.

The cooling system has also undergone renovation. What's left of the previous model is the 168 hp engine. with., tires 32 inches OTP Coyotes, ground clearance of 40.6 cm and four-point seat belts.

At the same time, the vice president of Polaris, Kyle Duea, noted that improving the characteristics of all-terrain vehicles will not have a big impact on their value.

Model characteristics:

  • Fuel tank volume: 36 l;
  • total load capacity: 336 kg;
  • working volume of the engine: 0.925 l.

4. Sherpa

In Russia, they also know how to make off-road vehicles, and not worse than others. For example, in January 2020, the St. Petersburg company Sherp plans to begin serial production of the all-terrain vehicle of the same name, designed to work in Arctic conditions.

The ten-wheeled vehicle will be produced in different configurations, depending on its purpose: for geological exploration, cable laying, transportation of employees, and other transportation needs.

A distinctive feature of the Sherpa is its two-link design. Moreover, on the rear 6-wheel platform of the all-terrain vehicle, for example, a living compartment or a module for production needs can be installed.

The Petersburg all-terrain vehicle is capable of reaching speeds up to 35 km / h on off-road, and up to 6 km / h on open water, it can climb with an incline of up to 40 degrees. By the way, the Sherpa has already successfully passed a 10 thousand km test drive from Arkhangelsk to Anadyr.

Model characteristics:

  • Carrying capacity: 5.5 t;
  • fuel consumption: 9 l / h;
  • fuel tank volume: 300 l.

5. Husky

This six-wheeled all-terrain vehicle was developed by the Lyubertsy company TREKOL specifically for cold latitudes. The duralumin body of the car in arctic conditions is easier to repair than the more common fiberglass.

Husky's massive 50 mm body walls help keep the car warm.

The car has already passed certification tests at the training ground of the Ministry of Defense in the Moscow region. Special modifications of the all-terrain vehicle will be sent to the troops and law enforcement agencies. In addition, the amphibian can also be exported to Lebanon, Iran, South Sudan, the manufacturer is establishing contacts with Turkey.

Model characteristics:

  • Carrying capacity: 2 t;
  • number of seats: 14;
  • fuel tank volume: 210 l.

6.K-8 Rusak

The main feature of Rusak is an electromechanical transmission. The machine is equipped with an internal combustion engine and two electric power units with a capacity of 75 kW.

Such a hybrid power plant improves the start of the car in frost and gives an additional resource when driving in conditions of a shortage of gasoline, which is important when working in polar regions with an undeveloped road network.

Almost all the key elements of the all-terrain vehicle are the original development of scientists from the Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NSTU) and specialists from the KOM company (Naberezhnye Chelny).

Model characteristics:

  • Volume of fuel tanks: 300 l;
  • number of seats: 20;
  • lifting capacity: 2.5 t.

7. Hort

Light tracked all-terrain vehicle. According to the developers, this type of transport is especially valuable in a long cold season.

At the same time, most of the units, systems and assemblies of "Horta" are unified with the above-described Rusak, which facilitates the production process and reduces the cost of tracked vehicles. In addition, this pair of all-terrain vehicles performs similar tasks: transportation of people and goods, rescue operations, heating.

Khorts were tested in Yakutia and Chukotka. Manufacturers are capable of producing up to 50 machines per year.

Model characteristics:

  • Carrying capacity: 500 kg;
  • Number of seats: 6;
  • The volume of the fuel tanks: 170 l.

8. Burlak

The case when an all-terrain vehicle designed for the Far North can find its application in the sultry south. Namely: the manufacturer of the Burlak snow and swamp-going vehicle - the Ural company "Makarov All-Terrain Vehicles" - intends in 2020 to present the southern modification of this vehicle for export to the UAE. Before that, it is planned to modify the cooling system on the current model so that the car can function at extremely high temperatures.

Russian designers are negotiating with Arab partners, from whom they expect some kind of technical opinion. Burlak also became interested in African countries and Vietnam.

If you look into history, the first Burlak was developed in 2016 and became the ancestor of a new class of multipurpose Russian Arctic all-terrain vehicles. In 2017, in the vicinity of Yekaterinburg, a cargo-passenger version of Burlak was tested, designed to transport people and goods off-road, as well as at low temperatures.

It is characteristic that, thanks to low-pressure tires, the all-terrain vehicle does not cause significant damage to the soil cover and therefore is applicable in reserves and other places closed to conventional transport.

Model characteristics:

  • Number of wheels: 6;
  • ground clearance: 600 mm;
  • lifting capacity: 2 tons.

Conclusion

All-terrain vehicles are the branch of mechanical engineering in which Russia manages to create serious competition for the recognized auto powers. In regions such as the Arctic or the Far North, the role of snow and swamp vehicles is especially appreciated. Well, for private rally fans who lack the capabilities of SUVs, mini-all-terrain vehicles, slightly smaller than the Sherpa, may well be suitable.
