In Russia, cars with tinted windows can be the reason for the arrest of the driver. This was reported by "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".

She informs that in the city of Kurgan, a local twenty-two-year-old driver had to spend three days under arrest. So the local court decided after it learned that the driver refused to remove the tinted front side window.

The whole story began in September. It was then that the driver of the VAZ-21104 for the first time did not obey the requirements of the traffic police and did not take off the light-blocking glass. A fine for driving a vehicle that does not meet the requirements of the regulations did not stop the fan of tinted windows. After paying a fine of 500 rubles, the Kurgan driver was caught by traffic police five more times. He did not react to the demands to bring the car into proper form and continued to use Zhiguli with tinted windows.

The details of the case were disclosed in an official statement. According to official sources, the motorist did not comply with the requirement to replace the tinted windows within 15 days. He continued to use the "faulty" car, and on November 17 was taken to the city court as not fulfilling legal orders. The court found the obstinate driver guilty and arrested him for three days. The current legislation requires the light transmittance of the windshield and front windows not less than 70%. The rest of the glass may have a lower light transmittance, since the law does not regulate it. Therefore, traffic police officers have the right to check the ability to transmit light only to the front and side windows. At the same time, transparency cannot be determined without special equipment at the discretion of the service employee.
