In Europe, the model will already start selling in a few months, the manufacturer has not yet announced the exact price for the Volkswagen Tiguan. In the United States, the car will appear as a 2017 model. The new crossover from Wolfsburg is stronger, better, faster, more powerful and even more stuffed with new hi-tech technologies than the previous model.
After selling 2.64 million first-generation Tiguan models worldwide, Vee-Dub developed and installed a new MQB platform and body, which were presented at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
New austere body styles, modern headlights and rear feet look as beautiful and impressive as on the Audi. As a result, the second generation came out much more beautiful and attractive than the first generation.
The new Tiguan will be available in two versions, standard and extended. By weight, the second generation is 50 kg lighter than the first, the trunk capacity is 521 liters, as a result, more luggage will fit. With the rear seats folded down, the boot capacity is 1,656 liters, which is in line with the standard of an average SUV.
As for the engine, the gasoline TSI and diesel TDI will be available to the buyer, which are capable of delivering from 115 to 240 hp. depending on the type of engine. The most recent configuration will be available with a 2.0 liter diesel engine. BiTDI for two turbines. This engine will be equipped with an automatic transmission and 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
Thanks to these parameters of the engine, body and suspension, the new Volkswagen Tiguan is able to pull a load weighing 2,500 kg. At first glance, the buyer gets an SUV adapted only for city driving, but in reality the new Tiguan is capable of many things, including off-road driving. In terms of safety, the Volkswagen Tiguan developers have tried to reduce damage in a collision, for example the gap between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment to support the engine in a head-on collision. This made it possible to reduce the likelihood of engine penetration into the vehicle interior. The airbags were left the same.
The dimensions of the new Volkswagen Tiguan have changed slightly, so in length it has increased by 6.1 cm, and by 7.6 cm in the wheelbase. This is thanks to the fifth generation of the new 4MOTION all-wheel drive suspension, which is equipped with the new Tiguan, which allowed it to be raised 11 mm higher than the previous model. Thanks to this suspension, the SUV can climb slopes and inclines of 25.6 °.
Inside, the designers decided to take the design from the Volkswagen Passat B8. The basic configuration of the Volkswagen Tiguan is equipped with a five-inch monochrome screen and fabric upholstery. In a comfortable configuration, the buyer will receive an eight-inch touchscreen display with satellite navigation, the choice of a control system based on Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
